The Rosewood of the Mariposa Gove of YosemiteNational Park has a history of about 1800 years on the earth. Does this tree have something to say to the
present humanity? We see so many trees
around us in our day today life. Have we
given attention to these trees or what they are trying to say? Each tree may teach us a lesson. Each tree has
roots and wings. It reminds us two important
aspect of our spiritual life. Like
roots, each one has to deepen our relation with Christ. Like the spreading wings, each one has to be
a wing to the other.
Like the roots, how can we deepen our relation
with Christ? It is always happening by keeping an ardent desire to be with Christ. Like the root that search for water and manure
for its growth, in every moment, we need to search for the possibilities to receive
graces and blessings from Christ for our growth. The wings of a tree are many times wings of
human life too. The shade, protection and fruits are some of the benefits other
receives from a tree. Like that, each one is called to be a wing to the other.
It is interesting to think, what kind of wings
each one should be? The compassion and love of Jesus to the humanity, led Him to
be with human being and instituted the Church. Today the Church is protecting her children
with compassion through teachings and guidelines. Therefore the driving force behind our acts
must be love and compassion. Let us remember the words of Bl. Mother Teresa, “It
is not how much you do, but how much love you put into the doing matters”. So let us be rooted in Chris to grow in faith
for the goodness of the humanity.
